The Binance hacker is swapping freezable stablecoins for ETH on DEXs, with DeFi exchanges pausing markets in response.
Binance is investigating a potential security issue and says user funds are safe. Tether's CEO reported more than 1.567 billion USDT frozen, and Circle's CEO reported more than 800 million USDC frozen. These are reported freezes, not a confirmed loss total.
More than $5 billion was reported drained from Binance wallets on three chains, with about $3.51 billion on Ethereum, $1.44 billion on Bitcoin and $630 million on Tron. Tether and Circle froze roughly $971 million and $823 million, and CZ said user funds appear safe. Binance says it has not confirmed any user impact.
